Obey Matizanadzo

Holds B.L. Hons LLB (University of Zimbabwe 1991)

Obey joined Coghlan, Welsh and Guest on a full-time basis as a Professional Assistant in February 1991, was admitted into partnership in 1996, and left in June 2004 to form O. Matizanadzo & Associates. Obey has over 30 years’ experience in corporate, commercial, civil, labour and criminal litigation and advisory work as well as in conveyancing and notarial practice.

His experience includes the handling of Cyclone Eline hail insurance and other claims and disputes; complex labour disputes and negotiations; due diligence exercises and investigations on behalf of companies as well as Trade and Finance contracts and foreclosures on behalf of financial institutions.

 

Tinotenda Matonhodze

Holds BSocSc LLB (Rhodes University 2014)

Tinotenda Matonhodze holds a Bachelor of Social Science in legal theory and Organisational Psychology as well as a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Degree, both obtained at Rhodes University. He joined the firm as a Candidate Attorney in 2015 upon graduation before being made an Associate in 2016 upon his registration as a legal practitioner of the High Court of Zimbabwe in July 2016. Tino was admitted as a partner in the firm in January 2022.

History:


Tino heads our Employment Law department. With his background in Organisational Psychology and Industrial Sociology, Tino has a deep understanding of workplace law and relations which goes beyond a mere legal approach. He has been invited to train and/or facilitate workshops where he has given lectures on how companies can improve their labour relations. His portfolio includes representing small and medium sized enterprises, large corporates some of which are listed on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange as well a variety of International Non-Governmental Organizations. In addition, he is part of the firm’s team of specialist litigators and has successfully argued criminal, civil, commercial and labour mattersfor various clients in different forums. His strengths lie in untangling legal intricacies and this has served our clients very well over the years.
Tino is a member of the Law Society of Zimbabwe.
