Founded in 2005, Matizanadzo Attorneys is a full service law firm that offers expert legal advice in all areas of general law. Alternative Dispute Resolution

The head of this department is none other than our largely experienced Obey whose broad experience from both the external and in-house sides of the table gives him unique insight into the realities as well as the legalities of the business world. Corporate Advisory

This department is headed Obey and deputised by Robyn who between them, have almost 40 years’ worth of experience both in the corporate sector and in private practice. Corporate Governance & Compliance

This department is headed Obey and deputised by Robyn who offer guidance on and assistance with regulatory compliance with applicable legislation affecting entities within Zimbabwe such as the Companies and Other Business Entities Act, Banking Act as amended, Zimbabwe Investment Development Agency Act, ZSE listing rules and all associated statutory instruments. These services cover:

  • Incorporation and regulation of various entities
  • Internal assurance / compliance reviews
  • Rectification of non-compliant records / structures
  • Training for key personnel / officials within entities and on-going assistance with fulfilling their roles and responsibilities

Debt Collection

Headed by Obey and Tino, this department provides an efficient and practical debt recovery service which goes beyond securing court orders for clients’ claim but, proceeds to ensure that the value of the orders given in clients’ favour; is actually realised by the clients. We pride ourselves on recovering value for creditors at little to no cost to them and have perfected it into an art that is essential to clients both legally and practically.

Estate Administration

The Estates division of this department is headed by Obey and deputised by Tinashe who have both amassed expertise in estate administration. In addition to personal mandates from our individual clients, we receive regular instructions from the office of the Master of the High Court on whose panel our several Estate Administrators are listed. In this division, we advise on the following areas:

Labour Law Advisory

Our Labour law department is co-headed by Obey and Tino. Obey has over 20 years of expertise in handling complex labour negotiations and disputes both in and out of formal court procedures. Together with Tino, this department has consistently offered services which cover both litigious and non-litigious matters including but not limited to:

  • Preparation of employment contracts; employment codes of conduct
  • Chairing disciplinary hearings
  • Legal representation of employer or employee parties at all levels
  • Employment issues on mergers/acquisitions/demergers

Litigation

The department is co-headed by Obey and Tino who have a wealth of experience in dealing with wide ranging civil and criminal matters

Civil Litigation

this department provides litigation support to the various advisory services offered by the firm. Tino has developed excellent rapport and a deep appreciation of processes within the many offices of various stakeholders in the civil litigation ecosystem – from the Magistrates Court and all the superior courts, to the Messenger of Court, Sheriff and the Master’s office.

Criminal Litigation

We provide representation and advice in criminal matters, especially those involving corporate and cyber-crimes; road traffic and other forms of accidents, alleged violations of labour laws, land acquisition laws and other violations of statutory and the common law.

Property Law Advisory

The firm has a strong Property Advisory department headed by Obey. The department attends to conveyancing: registration of transfer of residential, commercial and industrial real estate, negotiation and drafting of real estate agreements, preparation and registration of mortgage, surety and notarial bonds, lease agreements, and advisory services on structuring of transactions and taxation. The department is overseen by all three partners who have been involved in the structuring of a number of housing projects which involve the registration of a notarial deed, deductions and formal subdivision of property, structured either through a sectional title or share block arrangement.
