Obey Matizanadzo the founding partner of the Firm has operated since 1991 when he joined Coghlan, Welsh and Guest Legal Practitioners, Harare, Zimbabwe as a professional assistant. Leaving Coghlan, Welsh and Guest Legal Practitioners as a partner Obey founded O. Matizanadzo & Associates in 2005. Obey later joined Mark Warhurst to establish Matizanadzo & Warhurst Legal Practitioners as a general practice established in 2010. In 2022, the firm changed its name to Matizanadzo Attorneys following Mr Warhurst’s resignation.

Obey Matizanadzo identified the need for further career development during mid-June 2021.
Acknowledgement of a rising star within the firm, Tinotenda Matonhodze, was the first port of call, and Tino was admitted into the partnership in January 2022.
Obey Matizanadzo has worked tirelessly with Tinotenda Matonhodze to implement the continued vision of a law firm committed equally to the ethical requirements of the profession and unquestionable service to clients. Both Obey and Tino believe strongly in promoting team work and personal professional development of each professional within the firm with a view to progress of the firm as a whole.
The construction of an efficient, dynamic, complimentary team is well underway. Part of this process was the resignation of Edward Mark Warhurst which took place during April 2022.
Upon completion of the restructure Obey Matizanadzo and Tinotenda Matonhodze now head Matizanadzo Attorneys, paving the way for a law firm built on the best attributes of the past, one step ahead of the present, and looking to the future.

Organisation & Size of the Firm

The Firm is a formal partnership, operating under the regulation of the Law Society of Zimbabwe. We highlight that the Firm does not have to obtain any Practising Certificate in its name. However, individual attorneys practising with the Firm must obtain annual Practising Certificates. Our team of attorneys practising with the Firm is made up of 4 legal practitioners. The firm has a competent and experienced administrative team comprising of an accountant, bookkeeper and practice manager.In addition to the above, the firm has two legal secretaries as well as a highly experienced Legal Clerk.
